These ladies have heart and a whole lot of sole.
Bravo's “Blood, Sweat and Heels” follows six up-and-coming black singles as they struggle to succeed in hypercompetitive New York City. They are “video vixen”-turned-real estate agent Melyssa Ford, blogger Demetria Lucas, real-estate development partner Brie Bythewood, modeling-agency owner Mica Hughes, affordable-style expert Daisy Lewellyn.
All these newly minted reality stars freely admit they’d rather be known as hardworking achievers rather than TV stars in the “Real Housewives” mold.
“What I admire most about my castmates is that nobody handed us anything. We built our careers from the ground up,” says Ford, a former music-video model who put her ego on the back burner when a breakup with rapper Flo Rida had her swapping a Ferrari 458 for a real-estate license.
And it's not all Louboutins and Champagne for the ladies when it comes to balancing single living in their 30s and 40s with a career .
“It's a struggle to juggle, and that’s with boys, bags and business deals,” Lewellyn says of life in the Big Apple.
As the show follows along, the ladies deal with problems involving race, cheating and who wears the pants in relationships.
The real drama starts to unfold in the first episode, when Lucas’ outspoken blog posts get the girls worked up.
“There’s six girls on the show — we definitely all have strong opinions,” says Lewellyn.
The series kicks off Jan. 5. at 9 p.m.
